Ok its that time of year again, my mobile phone contract is up for renewal and I need to find another contract to commence on the exact day (near as damn it) my old one expires.

It really annoys me that mobile phone companies still insist on offering the best deals to new customers, as opposed to rewarding the loyalty of their existing customers. I do not want to move mobile phone company, or change contract. I know the company I am with do not want to lose me as a customer, and, if I cancel / renew with the same company it must still cost them a lot in administration costs.

But, that is what I am going to do, again, cancel and renew with the same mobile phone company because it is cheaper than just renewing my contract, it is utter madness.

This year however, I am hoping to go one better than before, and get a completely cost free mobile phone, yes thats right, pay absolutely nothing for it! As I usually do, I start my search with comparison sites for the best mobile deals, and found one specialising in 12 month free deals.

There are a number of sites promoting these deals, and make no mistake, there are some pitfalls to watch out for. The retailers are being pretty slippery with these offers, but, I know for a fact they can be beaten as a friend put me onto these deals, and the site I used has some very frank advice for those interested in 12 month free deals.

So, armed with the facts, and understanding the pitfalls I signed up for my new contract, which, all being well will not cost me a penny!
